Fruitful Prints

These images (above) are taken from a recent article on The Selby website. As well as looking mouth-wateringly edible, the grapes are also deliciously aesthetic. So delicious they had the rare effect of making me want to use Photoshop. The results are this third (perhaps slightly pixelated) image (below).

What is most intriguing about this print is the instant appeal it has for the body or to be more practical complimentary on the body in the form of a garment. The contrast of light and dark would illuminate and obscure the figure giving an atmospheric, almost angelic appeal combined with the contemporary element of a print. I imagine this on a cotton/canvas/silk paper fabric. I'm floating off again in to dream world....be back with more later.

Lolling About

These colours could inspire a million outfits, pity the weather doesn't permit a lollipop. The rules and rain could always be broken though...

*The second image is of handmade paper and waxed paper hanging on my studio wall.

One to Note

Haruka Miyamoto is a recent graduate of the Chelsea College of Art and Design. In this vimeo, Rebecca Earley talks to Haruka about the inspiration for her degree show collection and the traditional technique she uses to create her contemporary pieces. Worth a watch, worth a listen.

It is worthwhile checking in to the Chelsea College of Art and Design blog every so often to keep track of the projects and exhibitions taking place within the college.

Cleaning up my Act

Yesterday was a very successful day at the studio. The simple act of rearranging, throwing out, lining up is therapeutic as well as rewarding. The number of things I found hidden in containers and dusty corners which had been long forgotten about have now taken on a new lease of life in the genius setting of transparent plastic containers. All the better to see you with my dear...

Frizzante Boutique

This is my degree show collection on display at Frizzante Boutique in Rathgar Village, Dublin 6. The boutique is owned by Brenda Collins who attended our Degree Show in June and chose four graduates to display in her window throughout July, August and September. The other graduates were Rachel Platt, Carrie Kinahan and Trudie Feighery.

Apologies for the lame photographs. The one time I don't want sunshine is the time I go to photograph the window! Beautiful reflections of Rathgar Village! Hence the photographs taken from inside the shop instead. I was delighted with the feedback and I am very grateful to Brenda for the opportunity.
